Microsoft commits $10B to AI, cybersecurity in Japan

Microsoft has vowed to spend $10 billion in Japan through 2029, as the LinkedIn owner aims to expand artificial intelligence infrastructure and fortify cybersecurity efforts in the Asian nation.

As part of the initiative, Microsoft said it will work alongside internet services providers SoftBank and Sakura Internet.

Days earlier, Microsoft revealed plans to invest significant sums in both Singapore and Thailand.

Separately this week, the Copilot maker said it will introduce AI models by 2027 designed to compete with offerings from OpenAI and Anthropic.
