We are currently seeking experienced clinicians to support the delivery of NHS-funded Autism and Autism/ADHD diagnostic assessments within a well-established multidisciplinary service in Norwich.

This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with autism diagnostic experience who are looking for consistent assessment work, strong administrative support, and the ability to focus on delivering high-quality clinical assessments.

The service offers a modern, patient-centred assessment pathway, supported by purpose-built technology and ambient note-taking systems to streamline administration and report writing.

  • Adults only
  • Children & Young People (CYP) only
  • Both Adults and CYP

Essential Requirements

To be considered, you must have:

  • Minimum 1 year of post-registration clinical experience
  • Minimum 1 year conducting full autism diagnostic assessments
  • ADOS-2 training and practical assessment experience
  • Experience assessing against DSM-5 diagnostic criteria
  • Knowledge of ADHD and differential diagnoses, including intellectual disability
  • Experience conducting Adult ADOS assessments and/or CYP ADOS Modules 1-4
  • Ability to work from the Norwich clinic location

The Assessment Model

This service uses a flexible, adapted play-based and activity-based assessment approach that explores both Autism and ADHD presentations, rather than relying solely on traditional ADOS-led assessments.

Clinicians should be confident:

  • Adapting assessment styles to individual patient needs
  • Gathering and interpreting multiple sources of clinical information
  • Producing comprehensive diagnostic reports
  • Evidencing DSM-5 criteria clearly and robustly
  • Contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment

What the Role Involves

Assessment Preparation (30 Minutes)

  • Reviewing patient records and background information
  • Tailoring assessment plans
  • Preparing assessment rooms and materials
  • Welcoming patients and families
  • Resetting rooms following assessments

Face-to-Face Assessment (60 Minutes)

  • Autism diagnostic assessments
  • Combined Autism and ADHD assessments where required

Clinical Administration (Up to 60 Minutes)

  • Clinical record keeping
  • Outcome documentation
  • Session notes
  • Risk and safeguarding documentation
  • Questionnaire analysis and inclusion
  • MDT documentation with clear diagnostic rationale

All documentation must be completed and uploaded within 24 hours of assessment.

MDT Participation (30 Minutes)

  • Attendance at standard multidisciplinary discussions
  • Additional MDT reviews for complex cases when required

Total commitment per assessment: approximately 2.5-3 hours

Caseload Expectations

Successful clinicians will typically complete:

  • Up to 4 ADOS or ADOS-informed assessments per day
  • MDT participation
  • Associated report writing and documentation
