Job Role: BI Developer

Compensation range: $2,500 AUD - $3,500 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Role Overview: The BI Developer is responsible for developing and optimizing business intelligence solutions that support data-driven decision-making across the organization. Working within a modern Azure data ecosystem, the role partners with business and technical stakeholders to design scalable data models, build intuitive dashboards, and deliver reporting solutions that enhance operational visibility, support strategic decision-making, and enable self-service analytics.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and analytical professional who combines strong technical expertise with a business-focused mindset to transform complex data into clear, actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and optimize Power BI solutions using advanced DAX, including measures, time intelligence, and performance optimization patterns.
  • Design and maintain data models based on strong data modeling principles (star schema, relationships, cardinality).
  • Write and validate SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Build and maintain reporting solutions using Power BI, including dashboards, dataflows, reusable templates, and Paginated Reports.
  • Implement performance optimization techniques, including incremental refresh and handling large datasets.
  • Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) for controlled data access.
  • Integrate Power BI solutions with cloud and data engineering platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Work across Dev, Test, and Production environments following proper deployment workflows.
  • Use Git for version control, including branching, pull requests, and deployment processes.
  • Produce clear technical and business-facing documentation for reports, models, and solutions.
