As an Engineering Construction & Commissioning Manager, you lead the deployment of Epyr units from equipment reception to the start of operations. You own the site budget and the schedule, you demonstrate that the unit meets its performance commitments, and you represent Epyr on site as the single interface with the client, the suppliers and the subcontractors.
This is a site-based role. Expect 3 to 4 months on site per project, four and a half days a week, with every weekend at home. Travel and accommodation are fully covered. Projects can be located anywhere in France.
During the first 12 to 18 months, the role focuses on construction and commissioning of our next units. As Epyr's project portfolio grows, the scope is expected to extend to full project management & ownership, from design to operations.
You will join the Industrialization team, which is responsible for Epyr’s product development, the engineering standards, the project delivery and the operations.
Impact. Epyr aims to make decarbonized industrial heat cost-competitive, because we believe that is what will drive deployment at scale. Every unit you commission puts that solution to work at a real industrial site.
Real ownership. You run your projects end to end, with authority over budget, planning and technical scope. Not a support role inside a large matrix organization, you will have a concrete impact on Epyr trajectory.
Physical, visible results. Your projects become operating industrial units delivering steam to real factories.
Scale-up momentum. A 15 M€ Series A closed in July 2026 funds industrialization, with several projects under contract negotiation and the ambition of a fleet of units in France and Europe.
A small, senior team. Short decision cycles, direct access to the founders, and a culture that values rigor and pragmatism over process.
Lead engineering projects during construction & commissioning activities
Structure the project execution and prepare site activities: work breakdown, construction site organization, safety enforcement etc.
Lead on-site projects execution through equipment reception, construction and mechanical assembly, commissioning and the start of operations. This includes planning management, simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) organization, safety management, first weeks of operations performance analysis, technical issues troubleshooting and handover to the Operations team.
Drive and coordinate suppliers and subcontractors on site. If necessary, take care of claims.
Manage project punch list and non-compliances if relevant.
Coordinate with the members of the Engineering team in charge of the design and contribute to the future projects optimization by reporting the on-site return on experience to improve the design and/or Epyr engineering standards.
Own budget, schedule and demonstrate technical specifications
Be accountable for the construction & commissioning budget of the unit.
Build and maintain the project execution schedule. Identify critical paths and drive corrective actions.
Demonstrate that the delivered unit meets its technical specifications and expected performance commitments (capacity, efficiency, availability, safety, compliance)
Interface with industrial clients
Act as the main point of contact for the client's project on site. Enforce client’s safety rules on site.
Manage the interfaces with the existing plant: steam network, utilities, electrical connection, civil works, site constraints and safety rule.
Perspectives
This role is the first step of an ambitious track:
Months 0 to 18: you deliver. You run construction and commissioning on the next units, on site. You come out of it as one of the very few people in Europe who has physically built and started up a high-temperature TES unit connected to an industrial steam network.
Months 18 to 24: you take the project from the start. Full ownership from the proposal phase: up to handover to Operations. The role becomes Engineering Project Manager.
Beyond: As the portfolio grows, you will be in charge to oversee multiple projects under deployment including complex and first-of-a-kind configurations
Must-have
Engineering degree, with 3 to 6 years of experience in engineering project management or site supervision in an industrial environment
Proven track record of delivering projects with accountability for budget, schedule and technical specification
Technical knowledge in at least one of the following: steam networks, air handling and ducting systems, or energy systems
Experience supervising suppliers and subcontractors on site. Exposure to commissioning and start-up phases.
Comfortable on industrial sites, with a strong safety mindset
Professional proficiency in French and English
Soft skills
Strong sense of ownership
Pragmatic and hands-on, comfortable with ambiguity and with decisions taken on incomplete information
Able to operate in a fast-moving environment where standards are still being built, and willing to build them
Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences, internally and with clients
Structured and rigorous, able to keep a complex project under control without adding bureaucracy
Location: based in Paris (other alternatives can be discussed), with temporary relocation to project sites in France. During projects construction & commissioning activities, expected on-site presence is 4,5 days/week, with possibility to return to Paris every week-end.
Team: Industrialisation
Contract: Permanent contract (CDI), full time
Start date: Q1 2027
Languages: French and English
Compensation: Competitive, benchmarked against climate-tech peers, including travelling compensation.
