As Lead Installer, you will oversee and directly participate in the on-site installation of solar PV systems — from mounting structures and panel arrays through to electrical wiring, inverter/battery connections, and commissioning. You will lead a team of installers and technicians, ensuring every project is delivered safely, on schedule, and to the quality and safety standards our customers expect.
Key Responsibilities • Lead and supervise a team of solar installers and technicians on-site, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient, safe execution of installation work. • Interpret system design drawings, single-line diagrams, and site layouts prepared by the design engineering team, and translate them into accurate on-site installation. • Install and oversee installation of mounting structures, solar panel arrays, inverters, batteries/BESS units, combiner boxes, and associated electrical wiring in line with approved designs. • Conduct pre-installation site checks to confirm structural readiness, roof/ground conditions, and access requirements ahead of mobilization. • Ensure all installations comply with EPRA regulations, national electrical codes, manufacturer specifications, and the clients safety standards. • Carry out system testing, commissioning, and fault-finding, including string testing, earthing/grounding checks, and inverter configuration. • Maintain accurate installation records, checklists, and handover documentation for each project, and report progress to the Project Manager and Design Engineer. • Manage on-site tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring proper handling, storage, and reconciliation against project bills of materials. • Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures on site, including working-at-height and electrical safety protocols. • Coach, mentor, and train junior installers and technicians to build team capability and consistency in workmanship. • Liaise with clients on-site to address installation-related queries and ensure a professional customer experience. • Support post-installation troubleshooting, warranty callbacks, and maintenance visits as required. • Any other related duties as may be required from time to time.
Requirements
Qualifications • Diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field. • Minimum of 4 years hands-on experience installing solar PV systems, including at least 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity. • Strong practical knowledge of PV system components — panels, mounting structures, inverters, batteries/BESS, combiner boxes, and balance-of-system wiring. • Solid understanding of electrical installation practices, earthing/grounding, and relevant codes and standards (NEC, IEE, IEC) as well as Kenyan building and electrical codes. • Valid EPRA T2 License (required); EPRA T3 License an added advantage. • Working knowledge of health & safety practices for electrical and rooftop/working-at-height installation work; OSHA/NEBOSH or equivalent HSE certification an advantage. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, single-line diagrams, and installation schedules. • Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to keep installation crews organized and motivated on site. • Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with clients, engineers, and project managers. • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to project sites across the country, including remote locations. • Valid driving license is an added advantage.
