Arrive is currently looking for an extremely motivated, skilled and dedicated writer to join our expanding editorial team.
We are seeking a storyteller who is passionate about improving the lives of, and delivering value to Canada’s newcomers, and stands with us in our mission to do so. You’ll have to think local and global as you create engaging, reliable, and widespread content.
Arrive writers are as excited about supporting new Canadians with actionable knowledge about their careers, personal finances, and lifestyle; as they are about discovering the best dosa or arepa place for newcomers to find a taste of home. Bonus points for if you resonate with the story of newcomers by being a first generation Canadian, being a newcomer yourself, or simply being an ally to what we’re striving towards.
Arrive writers are ambitious and independent thinkers who know what newcomers care about. Backed by a team that’s creating meaningful products and solutions for newcomers, our blog is designed to become the meeting place for the over 2 million newcomers who will land in Canada by 2025. Our writers want to be the best source of information for newcomer communities, whether it’s breaking down how to tackle the first 6 months in Canada , spotlighting extraordinary local and national newcomers success stories, or finding new festivals that everyone should know about.

Position Type
This position can be remote, with the option of 1-2 days at the Arrive office in Downtown Toronto per week. Candidates considered will be hired on a per-article, freelance contract. Rates will be commensurate with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating up to 3 local news stories per day (250-600 words)
- Researching, pitching and writing local news for newcomers
- Seeking out topics and value-based content for our audience around career, lifestyle, finances, housing, and more!
- Suggesting compelling stories in the Arrive voice
- Properly citing information that is factually accurate
- Working with Arrive Editors to make necessary revisions and continually improving your craft
REQUIREMENTS
- Six months of professional writing experience at a digital news publisher and/or a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- An addiction to tight deadlines and team brainstorming
- The ability to spot catchy, unique angles while staying true to the Arrive voice
- A deep knowledge of what is happening and trending in the newcomer community
- A passion for a mix of research, feature stories and news topics
- Availability to work with our editors Monday through Friday between 9am to 4pm EST during at least three consecutive days
